Courtyard House
A comprehensive transformation of a family home, centred around a new courtyard extension that strengthens the relationship between the house, garden and landscape. Alongside carefully integrated new additions, the existing building is being reconfigured and refurbished throughout to create a series of calm, light-filled spaces that feel both generous and connected.
Now on site, the project combines extensive refurbishment with a series of carefully integrated extensions, requiring close coordination between architecture, structure and craftsmanship. As the existing house is opened up and reshaped, new spaces are emerging around the courtyard, revealing the scale and quality of the transformation while retaining the character of the original building.
The completed design is defined by a restrained palette of natural materials, generous openings and carefully composed views that connect each room to the courtyard and surrounding landscape. Rather than reading as an extension, the new work sits seamlessly alongside the original house, creating a home that feels coherent, enduring and quietly contemporary.
