House with a Buttress

Set within the grounds of an existing family home, this project extends and transforms a pool house into a private wellness retreat for family life. New additions are carefully composed with the original building, creating a collection of spaces that feel calm, generous and deeply connected to their surroundings.

A new gym, wellness spaces and bar are arranged around the pool, creating a sequence of rooms that balance activity with relaxation. A restrained palette of natural materials, carefully framed views and finely crafted details allows the architecture to feel quiet, enduring and rooted in its setting.

The architecture is shaped by a quiet and carefully considered material palette, where limestone, timber and bronze accents bring warmth and permanence to the interiors. Natural light is drawn deep into the building, while bespoke joinery and integrated lighting create a sense of calm.

Designed in close collaboration with the client and specialist makers, every element has been carefully resolved, from the wellness facilities and bespoke bar to the landscaped setting beyond. The result is a building that supports both everyday rituals and larger gatherings, offering spaces that feel refined, welcoming and built to last.
